This Yard Game Turns Cornhole Into Golf: Weird or Cool?

Summer may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean we’re ready to pack it all back inside. And with football season not too far off, it’s an even better excuse to get out the yard games.

The team behind TeeBags, which has its own campaign on Kickstarter right now, has taken everyone’s favorite tailgating game, cornhole (or “bags”), and collided it with everyone’s favorite weekend game, golf. TeeBags (well done, Fore Play Golf LLC, well done) converts a cornhole board into your own portable golf course with a plastic, artificial grass-covered board topper. Each set comes with the topper and a chipping mat, and the cup collapses so the board can store flat. To ensure your skills translate from the course, the chipping mat is heavy enough to lay flat on any surface and the hitting turf is the same that’s used in high-end driving mats.

The game is BYO-golf clubs and you can play with everything from a professional 8-iron to that putter you stole from Mini Golf years ago. Borrowing from cornhole, TeeBags has a point system based on where your ball lands on the board. There are rules to five different variations of the game, but the creators encourage you to establish your own “house rules.”

TeeBags even has an accompanying app that tracks scores, gameplay summaries, wagers (if you choose to make them), and lists the rules. If you get in on it now, you can get one board for $59 or the pair for $109 ($20 and $30 off retail, respectively). So even if you can’t make it to the course as much as you like this fall, at least you can practice your short game or have something new to take to your buddy’s backyard party.

Weird or cool: Cool.
