Sometimes we all just need a vacation, a change from the norm, a time to decompress and relax. I very recently did that and by recently I mean last weekend. I went to Daytona Beach for a long weekend to watch some cheerleading and soak up some sun. While fitness is important to me my trip is at well. To combine those two staying fit on vacation is important to me and it is not as hard as you think. Whether you are on the beach, in the mountains, or anywhere else you can stay fit while still enjoying your vacation.
The key here is doing something active that you enjoy. The easy option is that your hotel has a nice gym and you can do a 30 minute hotel gym workout everyday. Do it first thing in the morning so you can go out and enjoy your day. If you are like me and do crossfit another option is to drop in at the local box in the area and get some workouts in there. Those are the most straight forward options as they are right in front of you.
The other option is to incorporate some sort of active component to your day while on vacation. An example of this is if you are on a beach go for a 30 to 60 minute walk along the ocean. It is both simple and enjoyable. Plus I know for me personally I cannot just sit in a chair all day on the beach. You can also throw football around, hop in a game of volleyball, or any of the other active beach activities out there. Similarly if you are in the mountains go on a hike or climb. Both a great workouts in their own right. Pretty much any vacation you go on there is a way to do something active on it.
So staying fit on vacation is easy but first and foremost make sure you enjoy your vacation. Working out every day is not important on vacation but do try to get something in once or twice.
