Change requires commitment, effort, and patience. This rule especially applies when you are attempting to change your overall lifestyle to include healthy food choices and daily physical activity. The good news is this: The rewards are worth it!
This lifelong journey towards overall good health and fitness begins with a single step. And taking that first step is where Get Up and Do Something can help. We are committed to helping you get started down the path towards a healthier lifestyle and to helping you persevere through the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Our website is packed with fun content: recipes, tips, trivia, videos, fun music playlists, local events, and even the local weather forecast! We’ve added a new “ask the expert” feature, where we consult experts from the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance and have them answer your health questions. The latest health news is posted daily, so with all that we offer, we hope to become your source for optimal health.
The campaign is sponsored by the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services Division of Public Health under the direction of Dr. Michael Peterson, professor and chair of the Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition at the University of Delaware. Since the program’s inception, graduate students seeking their masters of science in health promotion at the University of Delaware have been involved in managing the Get Up and Do Something website. Additionally, the campaign is partnered with several organizations, which are listed on our Partners Page. In accordance with the mission and goals set forth by the Delaware Coalition for Healthy Eating and Active Living, the campaign aims to increase regular physical activity and improve the nutritional health of Delawareans.
