Embrace the Butterfly Feeling

We have all been there. You are nervous for one reason or another and out of no where you get that butterfly feeling in your stomach. Many people assume this is a bad thing. But I am here to tell you that it is not. That feeling is a good thing, it keeps you on your toes, and can make you perform better if you let it help you. So next time you feel some butterflies make sure you embrace it.

First things first the butterfly feeling is uncomfortable. I will admit that. There is nothing stranger than getting that feeling. It is like nothing else. But once you get past that stage you can harness it and use it to your advantage. The first step with harnessing the butterflies is to be ok that it is there. Most people are not but you just have to accept it for what it is and move on.

Now that the butterfly feeling is there you have to use it. The adrenaline is there and you should be able to perform at your peak. It means that it is important to you. Trust it you know what you are doing. Generally your body and mind know what to do you just have to get out of your own way. Thats the key with embracing the feeling, let it happen, and let your body take over.

In cheerleading I get the butterfly feeling more times than I would like to admit, but I trust myself and let my body take over, and it works out. Most people get held up by focusing on the butterflies and not moving past it. That is the the thing you have to do.

Finally I am going to be honest with you. I love that butterfly feeling. It means I am stepping out of my comfort zone and I love doing that. It is something we as a society need to do more of. So next time you get the butterfly feeling, do not run away from it, embrace it and learn from it.
