How to be Physically Active if You Are Handicapped or Disabled

People with disabilities are less likely to engage in regular moderate physical activity than people without disabilities. It should be recognized that social support from family and friends are consistently and positively related to their regular physical activity. You may be limited by a disability and it may be harder to be physically active but you still need to live an active life to promote your health and prevent unnecessary disease. Becoming physically active can improve your flexibility, mobility, and coordination and also keep your heart, lungs, muscles, and bones healthy. Consult your health care provider to find out the amount and type of physical activity needed to meet your individual needs, preferences, and life circumstances.
