Join
members of the Delaware Astronomical Society for an evening of stargazing.
Learn summer constellations and receive an introduction to the night sky. This
program is appropriate for beginners through advanced stargazers, and is
appropriate for all ages. There is no fee and pre-registration is not required.
Equipment will be available, or you may bring your own binoculars and
telescope. No white flashlights please; red-filtered lights only. Meet in the

to Backyard Composting, Wilmington, DE, 9:30-10:30am Join
Master Composter and Master Gardener Hetty Francke to learn how to build a
compost pile, as well as how to begin your own vermi-composting bin. Tour
Bellevue’s Compost Demonstration Site, take home information to help you begin
composting, and enjoy a power point presentation. Compost bins will be on sale
for $10 each. This program is suitable for adults and families. Meet at the

Youth Fishing Tournament, Wilmington, DE, 9am-1pm Youths
through age 15 are invited to our Annual Fishing Tournament, co-sponsored by
Delaware State Parks and the First State Bassmasters. Bring your pole and bait
because prizes will be awarded! Lunch is provided for tournament participants,
and may be purchased by adults. Groups are asked to pre-register by calling

5, 2009 Westside Way Race/Walk, Wilmington, DE, 6:30pm Westside Family Healthcare, a non-profit community
health center in New Castle County, will host its 19th annual 5K the Westside
Way Race/Walk on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Wilmington Riverfront.
Registration begins at 5:30pm and the run/walk begins at 6:30pm.
Participants can choose to participate in a 5K Walk/Run or a 1-Mile Fitness
Walk. Following the race there will be a free after race party on the deck of
C.W. Harborside, located on the Wilmington Riverfront. All proceeds will
go towards providing family medical, dental, and mental health care to the

Race – The Millpond Challenge, Bear, DE, 8am Join
us for the popular Millpond Challenge, part of the Adventure Race Series in
Delaware State Parks. These races are designed with the average athlete in
mind. The race consists of three legs: a 3.1-mile trail run, a 7.5-mile bicycle
trip around Lums Pond, and a ½-mile flat-water kayak trip with kayaks provided.
Each participant will receive beverages, and a limited edition race t-shirt.
Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories. The advance registration
entry fee for this event is $27 per racer. Late registration is $40 per racer
after July 18. Pre-race meetings begin 30 minutes before the race starts. For
