Sometimes, we all just need a little extra motivation. We need some inspiration. Something to fuel our fire. One of my favorite ways to do that? Watching movies. I am somewhat of a movie-buff. There’s just something about curling up on a cozy couch that instantly puts me in a good mood. It transports me into another world, and allows me to forget my hectic life for a few hours. So in honor of January, the month made for resolutions and starting new, here are some of the movies I watch when I am in need of a little extra motivation.
1. Blue Crush
Okay, so maybe I just like this movie because it’s set in Hawaii. But it’s also very inspiring. The main character is a female surfer who works her butt off to win a surf competition. She surfs, swims, and does pull-ups like a BOSS. At the end of this movie, I always feel the desire to get off my butt and learn to surf.
2. Soul Surfer
Alas, another surfing movie. Maybe I am in desperate need of the beach and warm weather. This movie is the story of Bethany Hamilton, a young surfer who loses her arm to a shark while she is surfing. It’s about how she bounces back from her loss through hard work and determination. Definitely inspiring! Bonus – it’s a true story!
3. The Secret
This self-help film focuses on the Power of Attraction. It advocates positive thinking and the belief your thoughts can determine your outcomes. If your mind is in a state of negativity, watch this movie!
4. The Bucket List
You can’t go wrong with Morgan Freeman, am I right? This movie follows two men who are terminally ill while they fulfill items on their bucket list (a list of things one wants to do before they die). I like the concept of a bucket list. It’s a reminder that we need to live life to its fullest, take chances, and experience new things.
5. The Pursuit of Happiness
Will Smith stars in this movie about a father and son who endure a variety of hardships and tribulations. The take-away message? The importance of determination, persistence, self-belief, and never giving up.
Grab some popcorn and get watching!
